Wall-sitting

***

This concludes the recent spate of both roommate and soccer-related posts.*

* I am an American, and so I will call it soccer.

Hertha BSC

"HERTHA, RIEN A BATTRE"

On the way home... // "I think that Hertha BSC either lost or won ..." //
"HERTHA DON'T GIVE A ****"

Ils ont perdu.
They lost.

As they dragged me to my feet, I was filled with incoherence.

Scan session for today, so here's a pic I drew of Tegan Quin, a writer of songs and professional musician I happen to hold in very high esteem. As do a lot of young teenage girls on Tumblr, which I have to admit at times sort of freaks me out...

Niedlicher Akzent

Paul: Malheureusement.
Whenever I hang out with Paul, we always end up having the following conversation:
Paul: Your German has gotten really good! Claire: But still no cute French accent. Paul: Sadly.

***

As an occasional subletter, Paul is a member of our extended WG family. To this day, he can be counted on for concert outings and discussions of Dave Grohl's level of awesomeness. One time he told me that I didn't have a cute French accent and this made my German boring. I said thanks.

Bologna (a breakup song)

This is the wrong story
This is the wrong story, we are
not here to make this happen
We are not made for

Making it stay so long that you can hear the false tones
and the way the shapes are bent out of place
These places have the wrong kind of space

                 Well I'm not here to
I'm not here to make this fit into place
                 No I'm not here to
I'm not here to pass the torch from your embrace
I'm not here to take a bow to your faith
I'm not here to make this fit into place

        I've said
        A simple apology would suffice
        Get out of bed
Take the gun to your head
Tell yourself it'll be all right

**
People. / Beer [extremely loud music]. / Berliner pride. "Moabit is best!"
Lawn. / Music [drum solo with no sounds]. "Yawn" /
'Mericans. "Frickin' A, there's nothing but Americans out here!"  "She says with her American accent."

"Moabit ist beste" is a pretty untranslatable slogan in broken German that refers to a neighborhood in northwest Berlin. Stakeout were actually a really good, engaging punk band; all I'm doing is adding to their own brand of slightly obnoxious self-deprecation. And finally, all Berlin snobbery aside, I'm still the most American person in that picture; I just like to pretend otherwise, especially when confronted with tourists.

The chemical Portapotties at the May 1st festivities on Mariannenplatz...
Whatever you do, don't look down.

Landwehrkanal

I can't imagine how dead you are
sends shivers down my spine
I sat across the bridge from where
they fished you out
last week.
